Research opportunity – FIVIN announces the second edition of the “wine, nutrition and health” research grants

The Foundation for Wine and Nutrition Research – FIVIN – announces the second edition of the Grants for Research Projects “WINE, NUTRITION AND HEALTH”, an initiative that seeks to promote scientific studies on the biological effects of moderate consumption of wine and its components, within the framework of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

The call for 80,000 euros (sponsored by the Interprofessional Wine Organisation of Spain (OIVE), aims, to promote research projects in Spain that study the effects of moderate wine consumption and its impact on health, within the framework of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

The total grant of 80,000 euros and the development of the projects must be completed within a period of 18 months and are aimed at research projects that are carried out in Spanish territory.

An evaluation committee, made up of international experts from different disciplines, will select the winning projects according to the criteria detailed in the call for applications, available on the foundation’s website: www.fivin.com and at www.lacienciadelvino.com

The deadline for submitting applications for the 2024 edition will be open until October 31, 2024, click here for more information.

In the first edition, called in 2022, grants were awarded to the following two projects:

  • “Association between biomarkers of wine consumption, tartaric acid and resveratrol metabolites, with inflammation and oxidation parameters”, a team led by Dr. María Pérez Bosch of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona.
  • “Research on the effects of moderate consumption of (red) wine on Alzheimer’s disease and brain function”, led by Dr. Patricia Pérez Matute of CIBIR-Fundación Rioja Salud.
