Dr. Josep Masip presents the winning projects of the “WINE, NUTRITION, AND HEALTH” Research Grants 2024 at UBAVIDA

On Thursday, March 13, the technical session showcasing the progress of the UBAVIDA Operational Group took place, organised by the Wine Technology Platform (PTV) at the Emina Ribera Winery. The event featured Dr. Josep Masip, president of the FIVIN Scientific Committee, who presented the two winning research projects of the “Wine, Nutrition, and Health” 2024 Research Grants.

These grants, funded by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization (OIVE), support scientific initiatives that explore the relationship between moderate wine consumption, health, and a healthy lifestyle.

The UBAVIDA event focused on the de-alcoholization of wine and the modulation of alcohol content, an emerging trend in the wine sector aimed at meeting new consumer demands while preserving the essence of wine culture. During the afternoon session, experts from various institutions discussed the synergies between the Carlos Moro Wine Chair of Matarromera and PTV for promoting R&D&I projects, as well as new technologies applied to the production of wines with lower alcohol content.

Additionally, the progress of the UBAVIDA project was presented, which focuses on researching new agricultural practices for obtaining grapes with low sugar concentrations and innovating winemaking processes, both in conventional and organic methods.
